My First Knitted Shawl/Scarf

Assalamualaikum and Hi everyone!

I learnt how to do this yesterday from Ms. Youtube.

So, I started knitting the scarf (didn't actually know what exactly I was doing until it was finished!) and it was truly addictive! I even brought the unfinished project to school, just to finish it when I was free (didn't waste every single second of spare time.) Sadly, the last part of the tutorial that I used as my guide wasn't clear enough for me. Then, I decided to not be a good student, I casted off the knitting with my own way (I'm doubting it's 'long-lastingness' now).

So, after about 10 hours(not at once, of course) knitting, here's my first trial. The color is absolutely amazing!

So, there's a few random style I did. The scarf is about 41inch long.
Ohh, here's the tutorial that guided me, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtCE7whUTNw.
It said in the video that only fluffy yarns work well, but I don't have a fluffy yarn yet, so, I just used this yarn, it's pretty thin though.

My New Toy!

MARTHA STEWART CRAFTS

knit & weave loom kit

Assalamualaikum and Hi everyone!

It's my joyful, thankful, cheerful and everyFUL day today.
Hihi. I love Spotlight sooooo much! Mum and Dad took me there this evening since the shops close later on Thursdays: around 8-9pm.

I now own an awesome knitting kit. I've been wanting to learn knitting for ages. I've got so many yarns from garage sale last year. However, I didn't have the equipment. I know I could just use the normal sticks like one of my Chinese friends does. She's soo pro! She doesn't even need the perfect tools for her knitting projects! I cannot knit, actually. Heheh, but it has always been a great satisfaction for me seeing my own hand-projects and I really enjoy trying new things. I'm gonna learn this asap!

Spotlight is having a MAMMOTH sale until 27th of April 2013, so, hurry! Heheh, I've got my catch for today, as stated on the title. The regular cost of this kit was $49.99. It went down massively (to me) to $29.99! On top of that, I am a member of Spotlight, I've got a $5 voucher, which means, every price for item that I buy will be cut off to $5 (including sales items!). So, that made me only had to pay for $24.99. Thanks soooooo much, Umi! These are two snapshots of the item.

I'm soooo loving this babiehhh!

The Mighty Minds 2013- QCS Practice Test

Assalaualaikum and Hi everyone!
Hopefully, we've had a nice day, yeah?

Based on Mr. Google who is the most convenient tool this century, I am now 4745.87 kilometers away from my unforgettable homeland. It is a compulsory there for students who want to exit high school with a good certificate to sit for a pretty big and important exam, called Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM). So, I believe my friends are struggling so much for the coming soon SPM trial. It is only a trial yet for some reason it is very important because the result can support the students after school in some ways.

I am considered as an international student at HSHS, nevertheless, I do have to sit for the Queensland Core Skills (QCS) test. The result of this test works similarly with the SPM result in Malaysia: to support the students' eligibility for further studies.

So, Term 2 just started early this week. I see time flies as fast as the lightening now! I feel like I just started school for 2013 and I still can't believe that I already wear the senior jersey to school everydaaay mate!(no offence)

This year, the QCS practice test will be held on the 18th and 19th of June. So, I'm really counting the days now. It's gonna be about 62 days away from the test starting tomorrow! (I'm not really sure if that emoticon is suitable at this moment? Because I'm more than certain that I'm not gonna start struggling now, eventhough I have to.

.....Anyways.....
In order to help us at school to get prepared for the trial and even the real test, the whole grade twelve had been jailed in a comfy prison, the school lecture theater, for the whole day today!
I didn't really know if students were allowed to go to the toilet during the session, because guess what? No one asked for excuses to breath fresh air for a single second from the speaker, or the motivator (yeah, I kinda like this word better because I think his discourse was very..supportive, inspirational, positive, and you know, etcetera.). He's from the Mighty Minds group.

Thanks, Mighty Minds for your great motivator!

My booklet from the session (sorry, not a good shot).
So, with my pants(too shame to say that word) remained glued on the half-comfy lecture chair, for six hours, I know my brain, eyes and ears have worked together. They put so much effort to listen to what Peter said. Thanks organs!

Broadly speaking, Peter covered every four sections of the QCS test:

  • Test 1: The Writing Task [Tuesday, September 3]
  • Test 2: Multiple Choice Test [Tuesday, September 3]
  • Test 3: Short Response Item Paper Test [Wednesday, September 4]
  • Test 4: Multiple Choice Test [Wednesday, September 4].
Apparently, we're gonna have two multiple choice tests. Nice!
"Chill, mate! Your tests only take two days while ours take two weeks!"
Yep, I'm a veeeeery lucky ESL student. Now, let's see the specifications:

Test 1: The Writing Task
2 hours
10 minutes Perusal
Write 600 words in chosen genre that is linked to the Concept, Central Idea and Chosen Stimulus
68 Marks

Test 2&3: Multiple Choice Test
90 minutes
10 minutes Perusal
Answer 50 Questions
50 Marks

Test 3: Short Response Item Paper Test
2 hours
10 minutes Perusal
Answer 15-20 items
60 to 70 Marks.

There we go.
I really wanna do well this time, for me, for everyone.
To my friends in Malaysia, especially youse at SMKKKLIA, SMKA SHAMS, and many many many other schools (I know many of you guys have moved, but, wherever you are...), I wish you all the best forever and ever!

I know we are fighting for different wars,
But remember, we are aiming for the same thing when all of this finishes.

Water-damaged babies! :''(

Assalamualaikum and Hi there.

I have a confession to make here. For you who might not know, every story in this blog is mine. Hihi, I was just not very happy with myself so, I tended to be someone else but that didn't help me with anything. So, I'll just be myself, hihi, it's my blog anyways. =)

Yesterday was a public holiday at my place; Toowoomba Show Day. So, my family went to Bribie Island in Redcliff with other four Malaysian families. We always travel together.

It was a long journey, about four hours driving from our place. Before we continued our exhibition  we stopped at somewhere (I forgot its name and I can't recall it) to take some pictures. It was a forest. I loved that place. It was very peaceful. So, we spent about 15-20 minutes there.

Then, we parked our cars closed to an Arts Gallery to do a bush-walking. As the result of our bush-walking activity, we arrived at a Natural Park. We were so lucky because we saw a beautiful lake with amazingly gorgeous waterlilies floating on it! ="D

After that, we went to the island. We stopped at a BBQ place to have our lunch and perform Zuhur. We also enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the ocean. There were many boats. We could see Glass Mountains and the long bridge that separated the island with a place across it.

So everyone enjoyed that. Some were having lunch, some were praying, some were resting especially fathers, the kiddies were chasing each other everywhere, some were taking pictures and someone was very very busy risking her own life to take pictures of unique things, such as purple crabs, it was me.

I don't really know how to describe the setting. There were four rocky rough (to my eyes) steps at the bank of the sea. I kept going down to the first and second steps to get better view of the scenery (I can't see the point of doing that now). So, at one moment when I was busy doing that, I saw a crab. It was small and purple! That was my first time seeing crab in reality, you know, on a real island instead of zoos or aquariums.

Then, the crab brought its family! So, one by one, they came out of the cracky part of the steps. I got too excited so, I decided to merge myself to the third step. Very luckily, the third step took me to even a better spot to get a better view! I slipped down into the salt water. There was a silence. I couldn't think of anything. Then I saw my camera floating! So, I quickly saved it by placing it on one of the steps! Then I held my hand to my pants pocket and I felt my phone! So, I saved it too. I put it next to the camera.
After doing that, I also remembered that I was in the water too! It wasn't deep. It was just below my chest high. So I tried to shout (I didn't like it because I thought it would be embarrassing), but I just tried to ask for help. I did try to get out by myself, but the steps were very slippery! It's gonna be a long story, so I'll just stop there. I was saved. Thanks, Mum! ;)

I got soooooooo frustrated because if my phone won't fight its disease, I'm gonna lose many things!
So, today, I realised that camera is the best friend of mine when my sister asked me this when I was rubbing my camera, "Are you really crying?? It's just a camera!" Hahah, yeah, why would I cry? Because no one will ever understand me, except the camera. :')

Please, wish the best for the camera.
Dear camera, I will never ever lose hope on you. Please, wake up. :")

So, these are my admitted bestfriends. :(
I put my phone in rice because one of my friend had experienced the same thing and this way worked for her. So, I just give it a try.
However, I'm still figuring out ways to survive the camera. Any advice, will be much appreciated (stupid statement to make when I don't even know how to make a comment space. I'll try. Heheh..)

Ms. Lonely? Nahhh..

Assalamualaikum and hye there. n,~

It has been sooo long since I updated my blog last time. Apparently I'm not doing what I was supposed to do (assignments). Hihi.. I tried not to post about my personal views or feelings here but I just don't want to tell everything about her in here. So, I guess every posts about me will be advertisements of her Blockbuster Story. But who really cares, heheh, my blog.

Hm, so, I've been comparing, thinking, reflecting and 'whatever-ing' myself now with me back then. When the first time I got here, I felt lonely, away from friends, my cousins, and everyone in malaysia. But I see good thing about that now. Allah was giving me chance to get to know Him and Islam better. I never got the chance to go to sekolah agama (i'm not saying sekolah agama is the only place I can learn about my religion, but of course, I prefer to be there than being in normal school, but what to do, no rezeki la..).

So, last time, I didn't know Islam as how I do now (still not much, but better, i guess). I thought Islam was only about the pillars, you know, pray, fast, hajj, and you know, my understanding was very general. I prayed, but I didn't know what for, I fasted, but I didn't know why, maybe because everyone did it.
But two years here have shown me more and more things about Islam. I still don't know much about it (I promise will learn more, InsyaAllah). I understand more about everything I do.

Everytime I pray, I feel like I'm belonged to someone or somewhere in this Earth. When I cover my aurat properly, I feel protected. Everytime I recite the Quran, I don't know what else I should ask from Him, I feel like I have everything. I also used to be very busy looking for new bestfriend, but friends, I see now, just don't tend to that. Because people won't live forever, Allah will.

Once I read a news headline, "I wasn't looking for a religion. I just fell in love with Islam," and I heard someone said, "When you read the Quran, you are communicating with Him, because the words are His." I understand those phrases more now.
I'm not showing off, I'm still lack of many things but I really really wish to be a good muslimah, (menantu pilihan pun ok..cewahh..hihohu tkdo lahh..)

I just want to share the truth and beauty of Islam that I found by far.

Little Pyramid-beanbag toy

So today, she decided to have a better look at a sewing machine which has been in her house for quite a while. She had never learnt sewing before, but she really loves sewing and always hope that one day she could go to a proper sewing class.

Anyways, so after messing up with threads and the sewing machine for about one and a half hour, she got an idea. She asked Hanah, her sister, to get her teddy. Yea, she tried to make a t-shirt for the teddy, but she figured out that that was not her level yet. :P

With her persistency in creating a new 'skill', she made something she calls 'Pyramid-beanbag' toy. The toy actually has got an amount of raw rice to create the beanbag feeling and some wool to make it soft for kiddies to play. Hanah loves it but she thinks Hanah is too cute to have it. Hihi. =)

Her eleventh handcraft.
